How Engineering Shaped a Roofing Company
Where We Began
A Foundation Worth Building
The idea for Texas Engineered Roofing came from seeing how often homeowners were left with roofs that looked fine on the surface but failed under real conditions. Misplaced nails, shallow drives from nail guns, poorly aligned shingles, and lack of structural understanding created problems that would not show up until a storm or heavy season exposed them.
With a Civil Engineering degree at Texas A&M University, our founder Brad Biggs, P.E., CRRL saw an opportunity to bring engineering discipline to the roofing industry. Roofing, after all, is not cosmetic. It is a structural system meant to protect the most important place in a person’s life. Every decision should reflect that.

Why Hand-Nailing
Still Matters
From the beginning, we committed to building roofs the right way, even if that meant doing what most companies moved away from. Hand-nailing is one of those decisions. Driving each nail by hand gives us full control over depth, angle, and placement. A nail driven too deep can damage the shingle. A nail that sticks up even a little gives the wind a place to grab. A nail that hits the wrong part of the nailing zone can reduce the strength of the entire system. Hand-nailing eliminates those variables. It creates a tighter hold, fewer weak points, and a roof built to withstand the shifts, pressure, and weather that come with Texas living. To us, that level of control is not old-fashioned. It is responsible.

Because we are certified by the Texas Board of Professional Engineers, every inspection, recommendation, and installation begins with a technical understanding of how a roof should function as a system. This includes load considerations, decking condition, ventilation balance, material performance, and proper fastening techniques. Engineering informs our process, but it never replaces the value of fieldwork. We have years of experience on roofs throughout this region, and that hands-on knowledge shapes how we solve problems and how we prevent them. This combination is what sets us apart: science guiding the plan, craftsmanship executing it. When both work together, the result is a roof built to last.
